Josie, where are you going?

Our Josie is crawling and already pulling herself up on things! It’s pretty amazing (and concerning) how fast she’s progressing. She’s so determined! Gwen isn’t crawling yet, but she does roll around to get where she wants to go, and she’s figured out how to clap. A video of that coming soon…

We spent this evening anticipating a swim at Uncle Joe & Aunt Christy’s house, and making homemade chocolate sugar cookies.

After three years hiding in the back of a cabinet, our ice cream maker has emerged! Homemade vanilla ice cream was the highlight of our day.

We’ve decided to designate Saturday as Family Adventure Day. Our adventuring today took us to the newly renovated Washington Park. We all had a blast playing on the new play structures, watching a Madcap Puppet show, picnicking by a bustling health fair, and splashing in the water fountains. Our water-lovin’ Abby had an especially great time.

Josie’s ready to crawl, and thinks Gwen is good for teething.

We know Josie is teething because she tries to chew on everything (including us), but Gwen has been covert about it and she now has one more bottom tooth! Josie’s still working on it.

Abby still likes this hat and thinks her sisters should too. Are they too young to play dress up?

Better

Today was a really good day. We spent most of our day in the backyard - some gardening, some water play, lunch alfresco. The highlight of the day was a game Abby and I invented tonight. It started when she told me that something was “gooder” than something else. I corrected her and explained how to use the word better. She delighted in the concept and we spent quite a bit of time challenging each other with comparisons. For example:

Me: Bicycles are better than roller-skates.

Abby: Motorcycles are better than bicycles.

Me: Cars are better than motorcycles.

Abby: Airplanes are better than race cars.

This game went on and on, and she even brought it up again after her bath. She really liked the idea, and got pretty silly with it. ”Frogs are better than monkeys… A is better than B. Cats are better than fairies.” She even ranked her parents. Papa was initially better than Mama, but she later said she was “just teasing me.” She completely grasped the idea, and even went so far as to say that something was the best, but I can’t now remember what that was. Tired mommy brain strikes again.

Our much-anticipated trip to Parky’s Farm at Winton Woods was a huge success. Abby rode two ponies all by herself, petted goats, and did lots of playing. Gwen and Josie did great. We’re definitely going to go again.

Much like Abby, the babies like water. They had a great first time splashing around in the pool. (Abby did too. Afterwards she requested hot chocolate to warm up. I suggested sunshine.)
