These girls are really excited about Grandpa having a new face painting kit (with glitter).

Girl date #3: After hearing about Josie’s fun experience at the Contemporary Arts Center, Gwen wanted to go too! Her unique ideas were to ride the street car and eat lunch at Skyline. I’m not sure how we managed to avoid it for so long, but this was actually Gwen’s first time eating her favorite food at the restaurant.

Broccoli! Snap peas! Lettuce! Carrots! (And strawberries, but they ate those before I could take a picture.)

One of Josie’s favorite parts of the trip: “snoring.” That means “the hotel, of course!”.

The first and last time I visited the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, I was almost exactly Abby’s age. I know I loved it, but the only thing I really remember was the indoor carousel. It’s still there, and so much more. We all had a great time! I think the girls now have their own fond memories.

We had such an amazing day at the very kid-friendly and fun Indianapolis Zoo. The girls especially loved feeding the parakeets and cockatiels, holding butterflies, and riding the Skyline. John and I really liked the dolphin show, and the incredible orangutan exhibit. The girls were also giddy with excitement about staying the night in a hotel. I thought staying and eating dinner on the canal was pretty special too.

Girl date #2: Josie loved our urban adventure today. She was especially fond of the art activities and yoga at the Contemporary Arts Center. I wonder if she’ll fondly remember how I gave her tired legs a break by giving her a piggyback ride from Smale to Graeters.

These girls enjoyed two hikes in one day! The second was a shorter one at Joey’s high school graduation picnic party at Sharon Woods. They really liked the Lone Meadow Woods shelter with easy creek access and a sand volleyball court.

We took an almost two mile hike with some of our Girl Scout friends at French Park today. Afterwards we enjoyed a picnic lunch and the girls cooled off by playing drip drip drench.

I’m still surprised that our Josie volunteered, picked out a song, and then got up on the Coney Kids Sing stage in front of a crowd of people and sang “Call Me Maybe.”

The girls had a blast celebrating Abby’s birthday at Coney Island. We were all so thankful for nice aunties willing to ride many spinning rides with little girls. Abby rode everything she was tall enough to ride. Gwen and Josie both tried the scrambler for the first time, and loved it. Gwen braved the Viking ship. And, the highlight of the evening, was Josie climbing up on the Coney Kids Sing stage to perform “Call Me Maybe” before a crowd.

Free kids bowling was a super fun way to spend a chilly summer day. With 100 points, Josie was the winner today.

Abby was not happy about going to the library, but it turns out that big girls do still like storytime!
